Childline receives calls from children and teenagers
about all sorts of things. Sometimes they are
lonely or miserable and can't sort their feelings
out. Some of them are worried about school or
have problems at home. Children and teenagers
who are being abused, physically, emotionally
or sexually phone us. We also receive calls from
children and teenagers who want to talk about
pregnancy, drugs, alcohol, HIV/AIDS, homelessness
and running away from home. Sometimes children
and teenagers phone us if they are worried about
their friends or their parents. Many of the calls
come from children and teenagers who feel that
no-one cares about them or their problems.
Childline listens - to anything
you want to say. You can talk to a Childline counsellor
as often as you need to. Our counsellors are there
for you any time of night or day.

Empowerment is a very
strong word. It means to give power to. Sometimes
you feel as though you have no power, as if other
people and difficult circumstances control everything
that you. do.
Childline has specially trained people who will
listen to you whenever you call, day or night.
No-one will tell you what to do. Instead, through
talking and listening with care and love, we will
explore together what you can do.
