Our annual Golf Day was held on
the 11th of October this year. What a success
it was! Starting with the stunning summer weather,
to our full field, many sponsors and of course
an amazing total of
A sincere thank you goes to our main sponsor,
MECER, as without their dedication and generosity
this day would not be possible. A big thank you
must go to all those that sponsored holes, greens,
tees and prizes, we received some really great
prizes!
Trevor Quirk who was our MC really made the prize
giving an enjoyable event and managed to raise
R30 600 with his magnificent auctioning skills.
A huge thank you to you, Trevor, for putting the
icing on the cake and making our prize giving
such a memorable evening!
This day would of course, not be possible without
the players, and to them we say thank you. Thank
you for your enthusiastic participation and willingness
in helping to raise these much needed funds.
Through
this programme, we are able to assist children
at our centres which are based in Cape Town, Athlone,
Wynberg, Bishop Lavis, Khayelitsha, Guguletu,
Mitchell’s Plain and Kleinvlei, Eerste River.
Our services are also extended to the immediate
surrounding geographic areas such as Manenberg,
Muizenberg etc. Our activities at the centres
include: child abuse awareness presentations and
discussions; educational talks and workshops;
promoting detection and disclosure; group or individual
counselling (long-term, in-depth, one-on-one therapeutic
intervention – verbal therapy); telephone counselling;
non-verbal therapy (drama and play therapy using
specialised toys); support (including court preparation
where we prepare children psychologically to be
effective witnesses in their own court cases and
empower them to testify against their perpetrator(s));
trauma debriefing; networking; referrals; supervision;
and staff training and development (capacity building).
