Yes, it’s that time of the year again and plans
are now ‘in full swing’ for our prestigious annual
Golf Day, which will be taking place at the Rondebosch
Golf Club in Cape Town on the 11th of October
2007. We are very privileged to have our main
sponsor, MECER on board again this year, for whose
tremendous and loyal support we are ever grateful!
This year, we are hoping to attract two full fields
of about 220 golfers. Last year, our annual golf
day contributed to a most successful event generating
a net amount of just over R75 000 for our child-abuse
and related activities. This income really formed
an integral part of LifeLine/Childline’s overall
income for the year.
- sponsoring a hole at a cost of R1,500 (exc.
VAT)
- entering one (or more) team(s) of players
at a cost of R300 per player, or R1,200 per
4-Ball
and/or
- donating prizes to be awarded at our prize
giving function in the evening
Through our partnership with Golf Alliance, we
will reach an estimated 14 000 Corporate Golfers
with our supportive ‘mail shot’. We have sourced
and are still sourcing some really amazing items
to be auctioned at the end of the day, and are
so grateful to MECER, who are also once again
donating one of their great products as a prize.
As usual we will also organise a raffle to which
we anticipate attaching some stunning prizes again.

| LifeLine/Childline
Western Cape was established in Cape Town in 1968
and has, since then, been providing ongoing telephone
counselling, offering immediacy and an intimate
means of communication to those needing to talk.
The need for an organisation committed to the prevention
of child abuse became increasingly apparent and
in 1995 Childline became a division of LifeLine
Western Cape. On average, the crisis lines receive
around 4,500 calls per month. With offices in
Cape Town, Wynberg, Khayelitsha, Guguletu, Bishop
Lavis, Mitchell’s Plain and now in Athlone, LifeLine/Childline
Western Cape has grown considerably and now employs
113 members of staff. The majority of the organisation's
staff members work in the area of HIV/AIDS counselling
in the clinics and day hospitals around the greater
Cape Town area.
