Following Peer Counsellor training, the Youth
Team assists schools in setting up a Peer Counsellor
programme which encourages teenagers to speak
to and support each other when they have problems.
Each course, or workshop is designed to meet
the specific needs of the school, or youth group
and can be presented at a time and venue suitable
to the participants and trainers.
The courses are presented by “Adolescent Trainers”,
who, as full-time staff members, or LifeLine/Childline
counsellors, have completed the LifeLine/Childline
courses and have been trained as presenters and
facilitators.
The courses are available to all teenagers who
could benefit from greater self-insight and an
increased understanding of their life experience
as they enter young adulthood. The Peer Counselling
Course is aimed specifically at teenagers wishing
to become peer counsellors at their school or
in their youth group.
Minimum amount of trainees per course is 20, unless
otherwise discussed and arranged with the Youth
Development Co-ordinator.
Enquiries should be made by the school principal,
guidance counsellor, or youth group leader. Please
contact the Youth Development Co-ordinator at
the LifeLine/Childline offices on ? 021 934 4822.
We would be very happy to discuss your needs
and design a course, or workshop to suit you.
This course is presented over four days and gives
teenagers the opportunity to learn more about
themselves and other teenagers interested in personal
growth and self awareness.
